Training
IDS is committed to providing training to the users of dTIMS throughout New Zealand. The user base that IDS serves varies from a manager who would like to view high level analysis outputs, the advanced modeller involved in research and development, and the user completely new to dTIMS.
The aim of the IDS training strategy is to provide open invitation training once a year. The format of these training events have become more workshop orientated with interactive discussions between client bodies, contractors and consultants, facilitated by an industry expert.
Among the baseline of content in the training sessions, the workshops aim to provide a platform for open discussion about current issues in the asset management industry. The topics vary from data requirements on a network level to submission requirements to implementation challenges. The discussions are always well worth the time and the sharing of challenges, ideas, benefits and solutions prove to be valuable to the attendees.
The training locations are typically in a main centre on each of the islands, to provide better accessibility to users. During the last few years, training was held in Dunedin, Christchurch, Rotorua, Wellington and Auckland.
We were privileged the last two years to have representation from Deighton all the way from Canada joining us for the training sessions. The importance of the New Zealand users to Deighton is witnessed by the attendance of
- Vicki Deighton, President & CEO of Deighton Associates Limited,
- Rob Piane, Senior Vice President, and
- Marcel Lavigne, Vice President Business Development and Strategy
The training usually concludes with a day of practical instruction around data preparation, getting the data into dTIMS and executing basic analyses. The attendees are provided to preloaded laptops and are able to get hands-on experience with dTIMS.
Copies of the presentations used during the training for the last three years can be found here.
